The glossary

A

  • Adonis City: A city on Venus that is both beautiful and unruly. Many sectors are run by local gangs and businesses
  • Alaric: A GTC agent who pursues Ogden on her quest to save Trent. Responsible for the death of Marco Deed's majordomo Bravia. After Deed's death, steals the ship Vapour.
  • Altanin: A scientist and prisoner on Ceres who knows the location of Project Galatea's headquarters on Oberon. He accompanies Ogden's team on the mission to destroy the facility.
  • Artem, Doctor: A pioneer in neuro-medicine and mentor to Dr. Silf and Dr. Zand, who secretly left Ogden's ocular implants intact and preserved Trent's memory in a crystal.
  • Aurelius: A ship mentioned by Vasquez on which she traveled to Minta for an emergency delivery, highlighting the tight regulations in that system.
  • Avick, Del: The curmudgeonly old captain of the Golden Saint, a ship that transports religious materials around Sol. Gives Ogden and allies a ride, but quickly sells them out to Sol Defense.

B

  • Beta: A moon in the Trita system famous for its heroic revolt against GTC. Home of freedom fighter Nightingale, who then-GTC agent Trent is sent to kill but he falls in love with her instead. 
  • Bilal: A Chainmail hover car pilot captured by Ogden and Silf during their mission to infiltrate a Starline conference on Earth.
  • Bravia: Majordomo of Vapour, succeeding C-Hill after his death on Venus. Marco Deed seems to have a paternal fondness for her and takes her murder at the hands of Alaric very hard. Started at Deed Industries at the same time as Natalie Parisse.
  • Brighton: A Deed Industries agent who is closely aligned with Natalie Parisse.

C

  • Cazel: A red-headed individual from Starline Shipping who attempts to apprehend Ogden in the restroom, demanding she come with him to see Terance Tamoon.
  • Ceres: The largest asteroid in the belt between Mars and Jupiter, housing the Sol Defense's highest-security prison complex, Sintana Facility. Also a hub for Cressus Mining operations.
  • Chainmail: A type of heavily armored hover vehicle used by Starline and GTC for security and combat operations.
  • Charity: See Silf.
  • Charon Consortium: The secretive group rumored to be the "brains" actively working on the technology behind Operation Hades (Blockade).
  • Chiron: A distant ice world in the Sol System, where Ogden has to bail Tidwell out of one of his many jams.
  • C-Hill (Cyrus Hillsfant): A cyborg assistant to Marco Deed, and majordomo of Vapour who provides practical support and supplies for missions. He accompanies Ogden on the mission to Venus, where he meets his demise at the hands of GTC agent Xavier Rykiel.
  • Coral (Cora Kolcheck): Former sex worker at Xanadu Club on Earth, whom Lorelei Ogden impersonates to confront Club regular Paul Tidwell. Ogden gives her enough money to start a new life. Currently working in an entry-level position at Blue Giant Chipping on Ganymede.
  • Courlin, Elizabeth (Lizzy): Ogden's first officer and close friend on the Dido, with whom Ogden also shared intimate moments. Secretly was an operative for Marco Deed, infiltrating Starline Shipping to monitor Ogden, and was later arrested for treason by Sol Defense.
  • Cressus, Gil: The founder of Cressus Mining, the major producer of mining ships and vessels in the Sol System. Frequently an assassination target by GTC.
  • Cressus Mining: A company who supplies a large number of the mining equipment used in the Sol System. 

D

  • Dampening suit: A specialized suit worn by agents that provides obfuscation against standard security and biometric scans, as well as basic protection against pulse fire.
  • Darrow: A pragmatic and sarcastic mercenary in Marco Deed's employ, known for his preference for working alone and his effectiveness in combat. He develops a begrudging respect for Ogden and serves as a crucial ally against GTC, whom he has an unexpected vendetta against.
  • Davick, Darius: A crime lord on the Trident, who previously had been a business man who'd started Davick Holdings, a small shipping company now under Starline Shipping.
  • Deed Industries: A corporation led by Natalie Parrise (previously Marco Deed) that is involved in the power struggles against Gamma Trita and has developed advanced technology like Man-o-War ships and the Halcyon Computer System.
  • Deed, Marco: Immensely wealthy founder and CEO of Deed Industries, a major rival to the Gamma Trita Corporation. Known for his manipulative and ruthless strategies to gain power and control advanced technologies.
  • Deimos: A moon of Mars, where Ogden has to get Tidwell out of trouble
  • Dido: the small Starline Shipping vessel captained by Lorelei Ogden at the start of the Gamma Trita Trilogy. Crew members include April Vasquez, Elizabeth Courlin, Dr. Mara Kilwanjz, and Paul Tidwell.
  • Dione: One of Saturn's moons, described as "haunted" and relatively unexplored despite hosting a Free Mars research lab. Darrow once visited it to pursue a target and encountered strange phenomena.
  • Drake Kerr: A mysterious agent who wears the GTC gray suit and yellow arm band. Last seen on Mars.

E

  • Earth (Terra): Origin of the Terran race. Though once ravaged by population, still a thriving hotbed of culture and technology. The only Sol world with a habitable atmosphere and thus has no need for domed cities.
  • Earth Works: One of the two ruling organizations in the Sol System, originating out of Earth (Terra). Governs roughly half the system, with Free Mars controlling the rest.
  • Eidolon: One of Gamma Trita's feared Hunter-class ships. Captained by Xavier Rykiel, before being commandeered by Deed Industries.
  • Elgol, Tinah: A board member of Deed Industries who is condescending towards Natalie Parrise.
  • Elyssia: A planet in the Minta System, described as Earth-like but cleaner and more exotic, serving both as headquarters for freedom fighter Nightingale and a sanctuary for Ogden and Vasquez after the Battle of Oberon.

F

  • Free Mars: One of the two ruling organizations in the Sol System, headquartered on Mars. Governs roughly half the system, with Free Mars controlling the rest.

G

  • Galahad: The first ship in the state-of-the-art Deed Industries battleship line, the Man-o-Wars. The brainchild of brilliant engineer Natalie Parisse.
  • Galatea: The controversial project run by the Gamma Trita Corporation that attempts to put human minds in android bodies, in part to create super soldiers. GTC agent Medusa is the first human to undertake the experiment. Project leader is Terance Tamoon.
  • Gamma Trita (GTC): One of the most powerful corporations in the known galaxy. GTC  has the lion's share of the market on commercial ships and vessels. Feared for their usage of highly-trained agents to intimidate competitors and maintain their position as the top company in Sol.
  • Ganymede: One of Jupiter's moons, featuring the sprawling, neon-lit city of Ganymede Prime. Technically under Earth Works, but primarily ruled by competing crime lords.
  • Gemini: A Ventran S-class corvette, described as soft, curvy, and bright yellow, christened by Ogden as her new ship, which she uses with Vasquez and Dr. Silf to pursue Project Galatea. Possesses superior Ventran cloaking technology.
  • Gayle, Tanner: The captain given control of the Hamilcar Barca after Ogden leaves  Starline Shipping. Paul Tidwell is part of his crew and also having an affair with his wife Vinta.
  • Gayle, Vinta: The wife of Hamilcar Barca captain Tanner Gayle. Having an affair with Paul Tidwell.
  • Gemini: The ship Ogden receives from the Ventrans to continue her fight against GTC.
  • Golden Saint: A small freighter captained by Del Avick, a curmudgeonly atheist who nonetheless transports Bibles and religious materials to and from Mars. 
  • Gravity boots: Enable enhanced jumping and movement. Some models enable limited flight.

H

  • Halcyon Computer System: A revolutionary computer system created by Deed Industries engineer Mycron Orlit. It powers the Man-o-War ships and all new Deed Industries vessels.
  • Hamilcar Barca: A ship Ogden was to be given as an upgrade from the Dido. She begins her escape from Starline Shipping and GTC before that happens.
  • Himzsan: The third known race in the galaxy, though still only rumored to exist. 
  • Horvin, Kjell: A person Starline Shipping sent after Ogden to convince her to come see Terance Tamoon about her headaches.

I

  • The Information Broker: Shadowy figure on the pirate moon Triton. Known for providing information for a fee. Claims to know everyone on Triton due to his "vast network" and can gather intel quickly. Frequently operates out of the Decada Den and is seen as somewhat theatrical by Lorelei Ogden.

J

  • Jahnno: A computer hacker who occasionally aided Mia Semm and Trent in their GTC missions, until his demise at the hands of Cressus Mining agents at Azure Ramen on Venus.

K

  • Kolos: Himzsan, a newly discovered alien race. Encountered by Ogden in a cell on Ceres, which she helps him escape from. He is one of the few Himzsan in Sol, on a secret mission to observe the Terrans.
  • Kuraudo Tower: A mega-tower residence center run by Gamma Trita. Located in Adonis City on Venus. Ogden and allies break into it in their quest to find Dr. Zand.

L

  • Luna: Earth's moon. Primarily houses medical research centers, Firmly under Earth Works and therefore influenced by Gamma Trita.

M

  • Man-o-War: Deed Industries' new battleship line, designed by Natalie Parrise. The first ship off the line is Galahad, captained by Sol Defense captain Isobel Zhou.
  • Maroon Fox Hotels: Chain of high-end hotels throughout the Sol System. Two of the most prominent are on Luna and Titan.
  • Mars: One of the two controlling planets in Sol. Free Mars runs roughly half the system. Mars' relationship with Earth Works is civil but cool.
  • Medusa (Samantha Rahimi): A ruthless and cybernetically enhanced GTC special operative, formerly partnered with Mia Semm and Trent. She is a formidable foe for Ogden, embodying the dangerous potential of Project Galatea. She is described as a "raging psychopath" but also with brief glimpses of humanity.
  • Mercury: A planet in the Sol System, firmly under the rule of Free Mars, known for its lucrative mining operations and the University of Mercury - Gassendi campus.
  • Merrick: One of the crew members of the Golden Saint
  • Mia Semm: Gamma Trita's top super agent until she breaks free of their brainwashing. She's captured and reprogrammed to become the more docile Lorelei Ogden. Eventually, the Semm personality bleeds back into Ogden's.
  • Minerva (Mars): A Martian city that hosts Deed Tower, the headquarters of Deed Industries.
  • Minta System: Connected to Sol by a heavily regulated wormhole near Mercury, this system is co-habited by Ventrans, EarthWorks, and Free Mars. It is the location of Elyssia, a beautiful and peaceful planet.
  • Monroe, Delia: Lieutenant Commander in charge of Crew Life on Galahad. Known for her chipper nature and optimism.

N

  • Neptune: Gas giant among the outer worlds of the Sol System. Its moon Triton is the primary base for organized pirates in the system.
  • New Singapore: One of the many floating cities on Venus. 
  • New Tokyo: One of the most prosperous cities on Earth.
  • Nightingale: Legendary resistance leader who leads Beta's revolts against the Gamma Trita Corporation in its own Trita star system. GTC sent agent Trent to kill her, but he fell in love with her instead.

O

  • Oberon: The second-largest moon of Uranus, where the Project Galatea headquarters are located in the Mommur Chasma.
  • Ocram: A name used by Marco Deed (it's Marco spelled backwards) when he buys Ogden's freedom on Triton.
  • Ocular implants: Enhancement to human eyes that enables improved vision or augmented reality. Embedded in Lorelei Ogden's eyes when she was Mia Semm, and left intact by Dr. Artem, so she could eventually pull information from GTC databases, enhance visual senses, and have a failsafe to prevent GTC detection.
  • Ogden, Lorelei: The hero of the Gamma Trita saga. Formerly Gamma Trita super agent Mia Semm. Semm breaks through their programming and fights against them until captured. They turn her into Lorelei Ogden, who was intended to be docile, but also breaks through and continues the fight against GTC.
  • Operation Hades (aka Operation Blockade): A controversial plan to destroy the wormhole to the Trita System, which would effectively cripple the Gamma Trita Corporation after they moved all their production there.
  • Orlit, Mycron: Engineer and board member in Deed Industries. Mastermind behind the Halcyon Computer System now powering all new DI ships including Galahad. Lost his husband because of a Gamma Trita attack.
  • Overman: A large, unappealing Cressus Mining tugboat used to transport supplies to Ceres, which Ogden's team uses to infiltrate the prison asteroid Ceres.

P

  • Parisse, Joachim (aka Joq Rigel): See Joq Rigel.
  • Parisse, Natalie: Marco Deed's niece and the current head of Deed Industries. Brilliant engineer and creator of the Man-o-War line of battleships. Standout in tennis during university years, who many felt could have gone pro.
  • Perdomo, Commander Anchev: Head of Security on new Sol Defense flagship Galahad.
  • Proteus: The self-proclaimed "Pirate King" of Triton. Has a sometimes cooperative and sometimes adversarial relationship with Dr. Silf/Charity.

R

  • Rahimi, Samantha: See Medusa.
  • Raja: A woman working for Cressus who serves on his personal transport ship.
  • Rayna: A highly skilled hacker hired by Natalie Parisse to betray Alaric and get Vapour back to Deed Industries. She also has a past connection with Darrow.
  • Regis, Captain Benton: A top officer in Sol Defense and captain of the Vespasian, initially an adversary of Ogden's. He later becomes an ally against GTC due to their increasing ruthlessness, particularly after Elizabeth Courlin's execution.
  • Rekert: One of Natalie Parrise's top two agents. On assignment to infiltrate The Trident on Triton.
  • Rigel, Joq (Joachim Parisse): A navigator and fix-it guy on Ogden's ship Xerxes. Marco Deed's nephew and Natalie Parisse's brother.
  • R-T: The cybernetic chef at Ramen Azure on Venus.
  • Rubaiyat Convention Center: A state-of-the-art convention center in Fes, Earth, where major events are held such as the annual Starline Shipping Conference.
  • Rykiel, Xavier A dangerous Ventran GTC special ops agent with pale skin and white eyes, exhibiting telekinetic abilities, whom Ogden and Darrow encounter in Adonis City and Triton. 

S

  • Shock gloves: Capable of delivering an electric shock. Used by Ogden in close combat until she learned her pair had been bugged by Marco Deed.
  • Silf, Doctor (Charity): A Ventran neuro-doctor, as well as  powerful pirate crime boss on Triton. She becomes a close ally to Ogden and Vasquez in their quest to restore Trent, but their relationship becomes strained thereafter because of Silf's mind control abilities.
  • Singer, Donovan: former security officer on Sol Defense ship Vespasian, now first officer on Galahad. Hero of the Battle of Oberon
  • Sol Defense: the interplanetary police and military force responsible for maintaining order and business across the Sol System. While officially neutral, they become a major player in conflicts for and against the Gamma Trita Corporation.
  • Solar System: The primary setting for much of the narrative. The planetary system around the star Sol. 
  • Starline Shipping: A major shipping corporation in the Sol System that initially employs Lorelei Ogden. Once led by President Terance Tamoon. Was deeply intertwined with Gamma Trita Corporation until the Battle of Oberon.

T

  • Takeshita, Keiji: Alias Issa, the Vice President of Operations for Starline Shipping and Special Projects for GTC, and Terance Tamoon's right-hand man. 
  • Tamoon, Terance: The head of Starline Shipping who secretly runs the controversial special project Galatea for Gamma Trita Corporation. Formerly Ogden's boss. Also assaulted April Vasquez at a company party, something he appalling doesn't even remember.
  • Tellmach: Mid-level crime lord operating on the pirate-run moon of Triton.
  • Temple Bazaar (New Kyoto, Adonis City): A bustling, open-air market on Venus where everything is legal, including the Ramen Azure shop where Ogden meets Darrow.
  • Terrans: Humans, the primary race of the Sol System. Originated from the planet Earth.
  • Tessara, Rayna: Hacker who works for Alaric on Vapour. Sells him out to Deed Industries and Natalie Parisse.
  • Tidwell, Paul: Ogden's navigator on the Starline Shipping vessel Dido, who turns out to be a mole planted by Terance Tamoon to keep an eye on Ogden.
  • Torm: Bartender at The Decada Den on Triton. Previously a bounty hunter of some renown before working for Charity. Once pursued Alaric before become embroiled in Trident politics.
  • Trent: Mia Semm's trusted partner, who also takes the fall when Ogden is captured after flipping on GTC. His memories are pulled from his body and stored on a crystal, while his body is locked away for future use by GTC.
  • The Trident: A domed city (literally shaped like the mythological weapon, the trident) that serves as main operating base for the many pirate lords on Triton, Neptune.
  • Trita System: A star system controlled by Gamma Trita, connected to the Sol system by wormhole technology.
  • Triton: Neptune's moon, also known as the "Pirate's Moon," a territory overrun by criminals and pirates. Where Dr. Silf operates the Decada Den and jockeys for power with the so-called Pirate King, Proteus.

U

  • Uranus: Outer world of the Sol System, controlled by Earth Works but mostly by Gamma Trita Corporation, who uses its moons and system for his main ship manufacturing.

V

  • Vapour: Marco Deed's personal ship, with the unique design of resembling a needle. It's commandeered by rogue agent Alaric after Deed's demise.
  • Vasquez, April: former crewmember of the Dido, who becomes Ogden's closest companion and eventual partner. Trained in sniper rifles, which she demonstrates when taking down notorious GTC agent Xavier Rykiel.
  • Ventran: An alien race, one of three known aliens in the galaxy. Have formed tenuous alliances with Earth governments and corporations. Brought wormhole technology to humans. Some said to have special powers like mind control. Known for their gray skin, white hair, and quicksilver/mirrored eyes.
  • Ventran Council: The governing body of the Ventran alien race, which has tentative alliances with human governments and corporations.
  • Venus: A caustic hell world except for the stunning floating cities above its cloud, such as Adonis City. Under Earth Works and heavily influenced by Gamma Trita.
  • Vespasian: A Sol Defense flagship captained by Benton Regis and one of the most state of the art vessels in all of the Sol System.

W

  • Wingate: An agent who intercepts Cressus after he rescues Ogden and allies from their mission on Ceres. Attempts to big-time Captain Benton Regis of the Vespasian and gets destroyed for it.

X

  • Xerxes: A small ship provided to Ogden by Marco Deed, made to resemble mundane shipping vessels but secretly powered by sophisticated technology.

Z

  • Zand, Dr. Delton: A neuro-doctor under GTC house arrest in Adonis City, who is deemed capable of fixing the leaking Mia Semm partition in Ogden's brain.
  • Zara: Previous travel and business partner of Darrow. Known for being a great tracker and skilled at hacking. Died of unknown causes on a mission that went awry, something that haunts Darrow to this day.
  • Zaren: Opportunistic power player on the pirate-run moon of Triton in the Neptune system.
  • Zhou, Isobel: Captain of the Sol Defense flagship Galahad, a Man-o-War built by Deed Industries and specifically Natalie Parisse. Hand-selected by Sol Defense Admiral Cotes. Associated with controversial "Massacre at Iapetus", where lethal force was used on violent protestors.
